September 22, 2025A fresh start. A fresh identity.
Welkom’s elderly community is entering an exciting new chapter with the launch of DanLee Care, a modern retirement, frail care, and assisted living facility under the ownership of Daniel Botha and Eben Lee. They are the well-known business owners of DanLee Homes in Welkom and Newcastle.
For Daniel and Eben, this is far more than a business venture. It is a calling — a heartfelt mission to ensure that seniors in Welkom are not only cared for but celebrated, respected, and embraced as vital members of society.
The official transformation began on 11 August 2025, with the unveiling of the new name, DanLee Care, and current residents meeting the new owners during a meet and greet held at the premises. The fresh identity represents their vision of creating a home where dignity, comfort, and joy are part of daily life.
Both owners bring a personal connection to this new endeavour. Eben’s mother recently became one of the residents, making this venture deeply personal and reflective of the standard of care they intend to uphold. Daniel, on the other hand, is set to work directly from the facility, ensuring he remains actively involved in day-to-day operations.
We believe the elderly are the pillars of our community,” says Daniel. “They built the foundations we stand on, and it is our responsibility to give back by offering them the very best in care, comfort, and compassion.
At DanLee Care, residents will benefit from nutritious home-cooked meals, fresh laundry, spotless living spaces, and 24-hour professional nursing support. Beyond daily essentials, the facility is being transformed into a vibrant hub where social interaction, activities, and a sense of belonging are at the heart of the experience.
Caregiving is more than routine, it’s about building relationships, showing empathy, and creating an environment where people thrive - not just live.
With enhanced security, expert consultation, and a commitment to hands-on leadership, DanLee Care promises to become a shining example of elder care in the Goldfields.
From the beginning, we knew this was more than an investment,” says Daniel. “It was born from a deep respect for the elderly and a belief that they deserve to live their final years with joy, dignity, and care.
Danlee Care: Welkom’s new home of dignity, compassion & community.
In a world where the elderly are often overlooked, two passionate entrepre-neurs from Welkom have taken a bold step to change the narrative. Daniel Botha and Eben Lee have launched DanLee Care - a retirement, frail care, and assisted living facility built on the principles of dignity, respect, and heartfelt service.
Daniel and Eben are well-known businessmen, as directors of DanLee Homes, Property Practitioners in Welkom and Newcastle. DanLee Homes Welkom recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, with the Newcastle branch now operating for 8-years. Their new journey marks the beginning of a new era of elder care in the Goldfields region. But for Daniel and Eben, this journey began long before.
A Calling, Not Just a Business. “From the beginning, we knew this was more than an investment,” says Daniel. “It was born from a deep respect for the elderly and a belief that they deserve to live their final years with joy, dignity, and care.”
Eben echoes this sentiment. His own mother recently became a resident of DanLee Care, making this project deeply personal. “I wanted a place where my mother could thrive - not just exist. That’s what drives me, and that’s the standard we will uphold for every resident who calls DanLee Care their home.”
Daniel has also committed himself to be hands-on, with plans to keep an office within the facility to stay actively involved in daily operations. “This is about building a community, not just running a business,” he adds.
A Fresh Start, A Fresh Identity. The first step in this transformation is the rebranding. The name DanLee Care reflects both owners’ dedication to giving the facility a new life, free from the weight of the past. More than just a new sign above the door, it symbolizes fresh energy, renewed hope, and a new standard of excellence.
But the changes go far deeper. The entire care model is being reimagined. From professional nursing services and specialized meal planning to social activities and community engagement, Daniel and Eben are reshaping the experience of elder care.
Care Rooted in Expertise. To ensure the highest standards, the new owners will consult with healthcare professionals, nutritionists, and geriatric experts. Nutrition is a top priority, with meal plans designed to promote health, support chronic conditions, and provide comfort through wholesome, home-cooked meals.

Daniel Botha & Eben Lee – Owners / Directors
"When the opportunity arose to open DanLee Care, it truly felt meant to be. Having cared for an elderly loved one, we under-stand the challenges families face. Our vision is to create a safe, caring home where residents feel valued and families have peace of mind. We believe in an open-door policy. Families are always welcome to visit, at the heart of everything we do is transparency, trust, and genuine care."
Erencha Erasmus – Admin / Supervisor
"I’ve been part of this home for 1 year and 3 months. We’ve been through tough times, but that’s behind us now. Daniel and Eben have brought new hope, and I’m confident they’ll make a success of this journey. I look forward to positive changes, growth, and new opportunities. They are warm, open, and bring calm to the home. The residents accepted them instantly – even joking about the handsome men now leading us."
Natasha de Lange – Head Nurse
“My nursing journey began in 198. In 1988 I completed my community service year. I spent 18 years in Neo-Natal Intensive Care at Medi-Clinic, and from 2007 to 2014 I managed the Neo-Natal ward at Ernest Oppenheimer. For the past two months I’ve been part of the DanLee Care team, and I’m truly enjoying it. With a new team and new energy, I look forward to introducing systems that will benefit everyone here.”
Alta Randall – Assistant Nurse
“I’m the newest member of the team, and I see myself as an enthusiastic, compassionate person with a true passion for caring for the elderly. I have a gentle nature and get along well with both colleagues and residents, creating a positive atmosphere wherever I can. My career in elderly care began in 1989, and I look forward to making a lasting difference in this new chapter with DanLee Care.”Voices of our residents: Life at DanLee Care...

More caregivers have been appointed to the team, ensuring residents receive not only profes-sional assistance, but also emotional support.
Caregiving isn’t just about tasks. It’s about forming relationships, listening, and making sure no one feels alone.[/blockquote]
Staff continuity is also key. A dedicated team of nurses and caregivers will be supported by Daniel and Eben’s hands-on leadership. Their presence and accessibility will set the tone for a culture of respect and compassion.
A Safe & Secure Community. Security and peace of mind are equally important. DanLee Care is located within a gated community, offering residents and families a sense of safety and reassurance. "When you know your loved one is safe, you can relax and focus on the quality of time spent together," says Daniel.
This secure setting also creates a sense of intimacy - a smaller, community-driven environment where residents can truly bond with one another.
Living, Not Just Existing. At DanLee Care, life is about more than routines. The team is busy developing an active program of recreational activities, social events, and communal spaces where friendships can flourish.
“Our goal is to foster belonging,” Daniel explains. “We don’t want people to just count the days — we want them to enjoy every moment.
This hands-on, family-centered approach sets DanLee Care apart. Daniel and Eben view residents not as patients, but as family members whose contributions to society deserve to be honored every day.
A Bright Future for Elder Care in Welkom.
The launch of DanLee Care signals a fresh start - not just for the facility itself, but for the way elder care is viewed in the community. Daniel and Eben’s commitment to excellence, backed by their personal connection and professional drive, promises to set a new benchmark for retirement and frail care in the region.
"This is only the beginning,” says Eben. “We are building something that will not only serve our residents today, but will continue to uplift and inspire in years to come." With passion, dedication, and a clear vision, DanLee Care is ready to redefine elder care in Welkom. For residents, families, and the broader community, the future looks brighter than ever. DanLee Care officially opened under new management on 1 September 2025.
