Amari School’s heartfelt plea: Hunger is not a choice, but help is

Amari School for learners with special needs in Welkom urgently needs help. Their welfare food basket, which many learners rely on daily, is nearly empty.

To address this, the school will host a Food-drive on Casual Day, 5 September 2025, in partnership with Goldfields Mall and Uplift Media News.

“Many learners face difficult home circumstances, and for some, the food from school is their only meal,” says teacher and marketing officer Annie Malan. “We urgently need non-perishable food and toiletries like toothpaste and soap.”
