Pensioentrekker se missie is om bejaardes wat swaar kry te help
September 22, 2025This Heritage Month, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) calls on all South Africans to recognize the unity in our diversity, and embrace the stories that unite us. Let's celebrate our vibrant cultures by giving the gift of life - because our blood, in all its diversity, holds the power to save.
SANBS would like to thank and acknowledge all blood donors who selflessly and generously give the gift of life.
The SANBS, in proud partnership with the Round Table Welkom 40 and Goldfields Mall, will host the Heritage Day Blood Drive on National Heritage Day, Wednesday, 24 September 2025 at Goldfields Mall, Entrance 2, from 09:00 – 16:00.
By donating one unit of life-saving blood, you’re able to give someone a chance to experience more cele-bratory moments with their loved ones. One unit of blood can save up to three lives as each unit of blood can be separated into its various com-ponents - red cells, plasma and platelets - and given to patients with different needs.
SANBS would like to encourage all who are eligible to donate, to spend only 30 minutes to make a life-saving difference this Heritage Month.
If you are between 16 and 75, weigh 50kg or more, are in good general health, and consider your blood safe to transfuse to a patient, you should be able to donate.
Donors with blood group O, specifically O-Negative, is known as the universal blood type as it is compatible with all other blood types and is used for emergency trans-fusions. We would like to encourage all blood group O donors to donate blood regularly.
The SANBS invites all regular blood donors and donors who have not donated blood in a while, to please visit their nearest donation site this Heritage Month.
