January 15, 2026The Goldfields community witnessed a historic moment recently, as leaders, business representatives, dignitaries, and community cham-pions came together at the Goldfields Casino for the official launch of the Reggie Mutsi Foundation. With an atmosphere filled with optimism and purpose, the launch celebrated not only the birth of an organisation with visionary social impact, but also the collective commitment of the com-munity to uplift the most vulnerable and unlock real opportunities for growth and success. The evening concluded with a remarkable milestone: A total of R600 000 raised in donations to support the foundation’s upcoming programmes, a testament to the confidence and goodwill the initiative has already inspired.
A Vision Rooted in Community Empowerment
The Reggie Mutsi Foundation was established with a clear mission: to empower under-privileged communities across the Free State through education, mentorship, social development, and sustainable support programmes. Named in honour of Lekitlane Allen Reginald Mutsi – respected Welkom-based business-man, community leader and visionary – the foundation reflects his legacy of service, leadership, and community empowerment.
“Our people deserve more than survival – they deserve opportunity, dignity, and the tools to build the future they dream of,” said founder and chairman Reggie Mutsi in his keynote address. “This Foundation is not just an organisation; it is a movement of hope. Together, we will change lives.”
The REGGIE MUTSI foundation focuses on key development pillars:
- Education & Academic Support: Scholarships, school resources, digital learning and literacy development.
- Youth Mentorship & Skills Development: Leadership programmes, career guidance, entrepreneurship training.
- Healthcare Awareness: Nutrition support, wellness campaigns, chronic illness awareness and screenings.
- Environmental Responsibility: Sustainable projects, tree-planting, and environmental education.
- Sports, Arts & Cultural Development: Talent development, recreational activities, and community arts support.
A Celebration of Support & Shared Purpose
The launch event featured a warm welcome reception, formal pro-gramme, and appearances from a diverse panel of speakers emphasising the importance of investing in the youth and rebuilding communities from the ground up: a moving testimony about the transformative power of community support.
A detailed presentation showcased highlighted the Foundation’s vision, strategy, and ongoing projects, highlighting the real-world impact the initiative aims to make in the months ahead.
The Reggie Mutsi Foundation launch stands as a shining reminder that when communities unite with purpose, remarkable things happen and lives change. Corporate sponsors, local entrepreneurs, and philanthropic families stepped forward throughout the evening to pledge their support, ultimately contributing to the funds raised; funds earmarked to launch the first phase of programmes, including school shoes support, youth mentorship hubs, and food relief initiatives.
Looking Ahead: Building the Future Together
With its official launch completed and strong support established, the Reggie Mutsi Foundation is now preparing to roll out community programmes across the Goldfields and surrounding areas. The Foun-dation has issued an open invitation to partners, volunteers, organi-sations, and individuals who share its vision to join its mission. “No single organisation can do it alone. Real change happens when a community stands together. Welkom has shown the country what unity looks like,” says Reggie.
A Legacy Begins…
As guests departed, exchanging warm congratulations and posing for celebratory photos, one sentiment echoed across the room, this was not simply the launch of a foundation, but the beginning of a movement. A movement built on hope, opportunity, dignity, and belief in the potential of every child and every family in the Free State.
